Bayern Munich stars Pepe Reina and Claudio Pizarro attracted hundreds of fans to the shopping centre ‘LP 12 Mall of Berlin’ in the German capital as they attended the opening of a club fan shop, Saturday afternoon.
The tenth to be opened, the 150 metre shop offers more than 700 items: mostly clothes, but also accessories, toys, candy and toasters. Success is predicted at almost certain considering Bayern sell more sweaters than all other teams in the German Bundesliga combined.
At the Annual General Meeting held on Friday, Bayern announced it is now the biggest sports club in the world. With 251,315 members, it outnumbers previous leader Benfica (235,000 members) and FC Barcelona (177,246 members).
