Hannover’s Brazilian Jonathas – Hero to Zero in 9 Minutes

That’s what you call a whirlwind passage of play: Off the bench, a goal, and two yellow cards in just nine minutes and three seconds – Hannover’s Jonathas entered the Bundesliga book of records. No other pro in Germany’s top flight has managed the combination of substitution, a goal and a sending off as quickly as the striker in the 3-1 defeat at Bayern München. Shortly after coming on the second half, Jonathas converted a penalty to make it 2-1 and, at the same time, score the 2000th goal against Bayern in the Bundesliga. The Brazilian then picked up two yellow cards and was sent off by the referee after less than 10 minutes on the pitch. The dismissal was another blow for the player and Hannover – defeat number 22 with two games to play would appear to have sealed their fate. What do you think? Can Hannover still achieve a miracle?
